Log of Everything Being grown on the Homestead as of Late Winter 2024 (Permaculture Map)

Ok here’s a list of things growing on my property. I have maybe a third of an acre on a corner lot. Making this list because people keep asking for everything I’m growing, and at this point I find it pretty hard to remember most of this. I’ll be including a picture of my permaculture map as of Late Winter 2024. Garden is located in south Kansas City,  USDA zone 6b.  I have no real idea what I’m doing. Fruit Trees

Apple Trees

  • Granny Smith, semi dwarf.

  • Yellow Delicious, Semi Dwarf or Full sized (home depot tree).

  • Pink Lady semi dwarf.

  • Honeycrisp, dwarf.

  • Attempting to Grow Honeycrisp sports out of old seeds for the hell of it.

Cherry Trees

  • Bing Cherry.

  • Compact Stella Cherry Tree.

  • Black Tartan Cherry Semi dwarf.

  • Stark Crimson Semi dwarf.

Plum Trees

  • Blue Damson Plum (slow growth) 20ft tall/wide.

  • Japanese Methley Plum.

  • Japanese Santa Rosa Plum.

Peach Trees

  • Red Haven.

  • Bell of the Georgia Peach.

Fig Trees

  • Chicago Fig.

  • Golden Fig Dwarf in Greenhouse (maybe dead?)

Mulberry Trees

  • Two native mulberry Trees maybe 10 or 15 feet tall each.

Pomegranate

  • Red Russian sweet semi dwarf varieties in the greenhouse.

  • Dwarf Variety, not sure what type in greenhouse.

Citrus Trees

  • X3 mostly dead in the greenhouse.

Pawpaw trees

  • X2 native saplings growing just outside the greenhouse.




Nut Trees

Native Pecan

  • One massive tree in the corner of the property. Would drop tons of pecans if the squirrels didn’t get to them first.

Black Walnut

  • X2 overhanging property abit on north side.

Hazelnuts / Filberts

  • Jefferson improved hazelnut (to plant in a week).

  • Casina Hazelnut.


Berry Bushes and understory perennials. 

  • Blueberries (both highbush and lowbush).

  • Blackberries.

  • Raspberries.

  • Honeyberries.

  • Goji Berries.

  • Strawberries.

  • Gooseberries (Pixwell types doing well)

  • Currents (maybe dead?)

  • Grapes ( 5 different varieties).

  • Pineapples (growing in house and greenhouse).



Perennial Herbs

  • Catnip.

  • Rosemary.

  • Sage.

  • Lemon Balm.

  • Fennel.

  • Thyme.

  • Oregano.

  • Mint (Chocolate and Spearmint).

  • Garlic Chives.



Garden Vegetables

  • Asparagus (perennial).

  • Horseradish (perennial).

  • Rhubarb (perennial).

  • Dandelions (perennial) (forage) Used to hate dandelions, now I turn it into dandelion wine. I no longer hate dandelions.

Annuals and Biennials I’m planting this Year

  • Onions (Red) x100.

  • Peppers (Chocolate, Bell, & Jalapenos) x40.

  • Tomatoes (Cherokee Purple & Cherry) x40.

  • Spinach x16.


Grain Currently Growing

  • Spring Red Wheat x100 square feet.

  • Ink Caps

  • Turkey Tail

  • Not sure?


Animals on Homestead

  • Indian Runner Ducks x3

  • Indian Runner Drake x1

  • Stubby (Herding dog) German Shepherd / Corgi Mix.
